I could talk all day about the evils of advertising and the ecological tragedy resulting from a culture of manufactured needs, and design's role in all of it. But design can be an incredibly powerful force for good in many ways that most people don't even think about. Not only in social awareness campaigns and education (like science communication), but packaging design, print processes, materials....the list goes on and on. I'm not much of an optimist, but some small part of me still believes that great design will "save the world." I'm so glad you're giving all this lots of thought and I look forward to seeing your thesis ideas/progress! Exciting!

You took some amazing raptor photos - beautiful birds.Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07537143639343069696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-40547296031833409982011-10-05T20:04:06.331-04:002011-10-05T20:04:06.331-04:00I too really like your "Raptor Sunday" p...I too really like your "Raptor Sunday" posts, partly b/c raptors are my favorite birds & partly b/c of your emphasis on ecology. The beautiful pics help, too.

"Likewise, looking into the keen eyes of a kestrel to see its peculiar intelligence and observing its finely honed behaviors, we can start to see the mundane beauty of the animal kingdom that must have been the true way the dinosaurs lived."

That reminds me what Bakker said in "Raptor Red": "I looked up and saw the female eagle's face staring down from ten yards above. She had the most amazing eyes, very clear and intelligent, and very fierce. When I imagine Raptor Red, she is looking at me with eyes like those."Hadiazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10805346627826158173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-19950642000346240712011-10-05T11:58:05.763-04:002011-10-05T11:58:05.763-04:00Muchas gracias!
