Something that troubles me a little when looking at the results is that this is a survey for a art form evaluated by its own participants. So it is very self reflecting, a very inside perspective. That is great, don't get me wrong, but I imagine it could be interesting to have a little wider scope, with a second survey for researchers or other paleo enthusiasts. Making one for the public would be nonsensical right now, but getting a better picture of what the whole paleo-world thinks could be more fascinating. Do non-paleoartists see the same problems we see, do they appreciate Paleoart as much as we think? What paleoartists do they know, how much are they willing to pay for artwork? I know this would be really difficult to pull off, so these are in the moment just some musings that went through my brain so I write them down before I forget them again.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05879808999246638877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-54806233718213886282017-12-13T03:07:37.710-05:002017-12-13T03:07:37.710-05:00Theropods...Theropods...Reprobushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10650084661969561056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-75523309975757694782017-12-13T03:07:01.462-05:002017-12-13T03:07:01.462-05:00Awesome artwork, really make those therapies look ...Awesome artwork, really make those therapies look like living animals.Reprobushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10650084661969561056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-46967210483226559152017-12-11T07:53:44.283-05:002017-12-11T07:53:44.283-05:00This is pretty interesting to read, and pretty wil...This is pretty interesting to read, and pretty wild to think that at least four people see me as an inspiration, and even more wild to think someone wrote "plastospleen" as an inspiration, imagine your inspiration using that username?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12678430097717115171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-47684095697323107232017-12-08T18:52:34.578-05:002017-12-08T18:52:34.578-05:00Seems like a reasonable reaction to seeing a small...Seems like a reasonable reaction to seeing a small child in the street.Marc Vincenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01894846069567096349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-2170236024080722262017-12-08T02:02:26.887-05:002017-12-08T02:02:26.887-05:00Dinosaur movies are truly vile things. The term paper writers stated that they lived in both Europe and the United States. Living in a foreign country is very, very different than visiting the same country for a few weeks. First off, you probably wouldn't be staying at a B&B. You'd have a house or an apartment and you'd have to fix your own meals, do your own housework and shop for your own groceries. Perhaps you'd like to go out to a restaurant from time to time and Europe offers a wide variety of restaurants across all price ranges.marciduncanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00684630065554511022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-29394624329595485562017-11-28T19:34:31.474-05:002017-11-28T19:34:31.474-05:00It is terrible. Dragged three friends along with me to watch it, too. They were brutally objective about it, whereas I had already decided how good it was going to be, and I wasn't able, on an emotional level, to divorce myself from that.

And whilst I do think it's a fairly well-polished movie, I don't care about anyone or anything in it. None of the dinosaurs feel like characters; they seem anonymous - even the T. rex parents. Couldn't tell 'em apart, and their behaviour was identical. Nearly every character has willingly put themselves in danger, either for ethically questionable reasons, or for morally sound reasons which are still tainted. The science speak is HORRID and turns me right off characters I'm supposed to like. In fact, the only guy I liked gets pulled in half by the two parent tyrannosaurs fairly early on, in a scene which I think put me off the whole film. It was so violent, I was stuck thinking about that scene for the rest of the movie! The CG is fine, but the baby Tyrannosaurus is a horribly clunky animatronic puppet and every time it gets screen time, I feel like Stan Winston commentary should be playing.

And the gymnastics scene... Oh gawd, why? "Hey, raptor, gimme thirty seconds so I can set up this routine. Don't move!"

JP3, for all its faults, didn't leave me with that bitter taste in my mouth. It was a bit meh, but I was expecting worse.

I don't have those nostalgic feels for TLW, probably because seventeen-year-old me felt some sort of betrayal! :Dgaffamondohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14397360821807022637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-27870990117760782742017-11-27T17:34:04.104-05:002017-11-27T17:34:04.104-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Mike Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06039663158335543317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107291904794625632.post-56615634687525044452017-11-27T16:47:13.144-05:002017-11-27T16:47:13.144-05:00I didn't mention Pete Postlethwaite in this po...I didn't mention Pete Postlethwaite in this post, but I should've done. My problem was I read the first book in 1990 and put it down thinking it was a brilliant examination on the ethics of exploiting scientific advance. The films hijacked it for entertainment value. Sure they introduced post renaissance dinos to Joe Public, but Crichton's message was just pushed to one side! Never was that more apparent than in the San Diego scenes.
